Dear Parent,

ASSET – A DIAGNOSTIC SKILL BASED ASSESSMENT

We are glad to inform you that Educational Initiatives (EI) – an Ahmedabad based research organization, founded by a group of IIM- Ahmedabad alumni, is conducting a skill- based diagnostic assessment – ASSET. Over 2500 leading school in India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Middle East & Singapore have partnered with ASSET over the past 8 years. Our school is again planning to participate in ASSET for all our students as it will give our teachers detailed feedback along with a year-round school improvement program with specific ideas on helping our children in their learning and our teachers in improving their teaching methods. The exam enhances the reasoning and analytical attributes to the child. The tests are at par with our regular curriculum and thus extra classes will not be required for the same.

We would like all our students to participate, so that the ASSET analysis can empower our teachers to consolidate strength areas and improve on specific areas of weakness and misconceptions (common to all students of particular grade).

Sample papers are available on their website.

The test is objective-multiple-choice type and the duration is between 45 minutes to an hour for each subject. No preparation is required as the tests are based on what the students have already learnt in the classroom. The fees for the test is Rs 400 for English, Maths and Science. Kindly deposit the fee in cash by 4th May‘ 2012 to the class teacher.

The exam will be held in the first week of December 2012

Please visit www.ei-india.com for more information on how ASSET is helping children and school across the country. We do look forward to your continued support towards the initiatives taken by the school in helping our children learn better.

Need to converse in English at all times

Dear Parent

Warm greetings and congratulation on your ward’s success and promotion to the next class.

It is our observation that while students converse with their teachers in English as it is mandatory, the same is not being followed up at home. We earnestly urge you to consciously speak to them in English and encourage them to reply likewise. The importance of good fluent usage of English will surely give a firm foundation to an impressive personality. In addition to enhance spoken English, as per the CBSE requirement, we wish that students imbibe good reading habits as well. To achieve this, students are requested to read fiction, non-fiction, newspapers and journals. Our library is replete with excellent reading material. We request you to encourage children to read enthusiastically. (This is vital in today’s competitive and global world). We at BVN have been insisting upon the usage of English as a medium of communication and would greatly appreciate your much needed contribution in helping us further our endeavour.

Anticipating your cooperation as always.
